CMS recognised in Latin Lawyer 250

CMS has for the first time been listed in the Latin Lawyer 250, the directory of Latin America's leading law firms. As Latin Lawyer writes, "CMS is new to the international chapter this year, admitted because of its local presence in the major economies and its visibility in key practice areas. The firm has had a foreign law consultancy in Brazil for five years – choosing Rio de Janeiro well before the most recent surge of foreign firms opening in the city, when others were heading to São Paulo – and, more unusually for a UK firm, it has a new association with a firm [Woodhouse, Lorente, Ludlow SC] in Mexico. The firm is leveraging its English law experience in both countries’ high growth sectors, notably energy, by striving to provide a local service with the backup of London expertise and experience."

One client, who retained our Rio office to advise on its entrance into the Brazilian market, commented: “With their combination of international experience and local knowledge CMS has provided us with a unique perspective to doing business in Brazil which we would not have gained had we contracted a local firm. We continue to rely on CMS as a trusted partner for our operations in Brazil and would highly recommend them to other firms seeking associates in Brazil.”
